Ideas search, concept & feasibility study for 30,000 sqm of mixed leisure offers for Doha Festival City, including an indoor snow park
- Appointed by Bawabat Al Shamal Real Estate Company (BASREC), a joint venture between Qatari and Emirati shareholders that includes the Al Futtaim Group
- 30,000 sqm in total, of which 13,000 sqm is indoor and 17,000 sqm is outdoor
- Initial scope was for an idea search and feasibility study but was extended to include concept design and space planning for the base build
- A range of concept options were developed and explored aimed at integrating the leisure with the food court, cinema and restaurants that will anchor the south end of the mall and activate an outdoor park & gardens
- Team Leisure’s extensive database of attraction attendance and project costs allowed over 70 different attraction concepts to be modeled and tested and the optimum commercial solution and combination of leisure offers for the mall identified
- Key achievements were
- the creation of a strong vision statement under which all of the leisure components are positioned,
- the development of a unique concept for the Snow Park and all of the leisure components,
- clear definition of the base build requirements to allow construction of the mall to proceed and
- the seamless integration of a wide range of leisure, entertainment and F&B offers to create a compelling entertainment zone that will clearly differentiate Doha Festival City from any of its competitors
